It has been lovely to welcome the children back today! We have jumped straight back into English today with a ‘Have a Go’ lesson, where the children were writing a persuasive letter to Ms McGrath, encouraging our Head Teacher to include more PE in our timetable to allow all children to be physically active for longer.
Our class text this half term is ‘One Plastic Bag‘ by Isatou Ceesay and The Recycling Women of The Gambia. We will be learning about single-use plastics, plastic pollution and persuasive writing techniques before writing our ‘Time to Shine’ persuasive letters in a few weeks time.
This week’s spellings rule: drop the ‘e’ before adding the suffix -ing.
Tip: If a word ends in ie swap the ie for a y before and -ing e.g. tie becomes tying and die becomes dying.
I have attached our Year 3 Knowledge Organisers for English, Maths and Science this half term. These are intended to help children focus in on the key learning points and will be used in the classroom.
Finally, a HUGE well done to all the children who have read regularly over the Christmas holidays- it has been wonderful to read/ hear about all the fantastic books they’ve been enjoying! The children may need a gentle reminder that reading should become part of their daily routine; reading records, along with spelling log books, should come to school every day in their book bag as we get back into the routine.
